Logitech G5

I'm now playing with my logitech G5 mouse that i bought back during my trip to KL at the end of November 2005. I caused a pretty deep hole in my pocket, a rm250 hole, that is. Where in KL, you might ask? At lowyat plaza of course! Cheapest and largest IT store i know of. At Midvalley, the same mouse has a 300 ringgit price tag.

What i like most about it is that it is a laser mouse which is more sensitive compared to optical mice. Most obviously, the laser's blue tint can only be seen throught a camera and not the naked eye, when compared to the optical mouse's fully visible red glare.

It comes with weights although i'm still puzzled why they bundled weights at such odd variations: namely 4.5gram and 1.7gram. Must be logitech's prehistorical numbering scheme that we are in no position to challenge.

As for the padding, it's made of polytetrafluoroethylene a.k.a. non stick coating used on frying pans (TEFLON) which provides an ultra slick "smoothness". It can litterally slide over a glass table with ease.

In addition, the mouse has 3 default sensitivity level 6 after you install the nessesary drivers.

In my opinion, this is a great gaming mouse although i had to spend some time getting used to its responsiveness. Sometimes, i feel like the mouse is gonna slide right off my mouse pad and onto the floor.
